Written Images

We participated in Written Images, a generative book that presents programmed images by various artists. Every page in every book is calculated individually which makes every single book unique.

Our piece explores the invisible building blocks of computer graphics: triangles. They are everywhere, yet always subsumed into a larger entity. Our entry explores this relationship between form and fragment. The simple shape of a triangle is duplicated many times to create a complex pattern. From this resulting pattern, it is not always possible to deduce how this shape was constructed. This emergent quality is further enhanced by using a random number generator and Perlin noise algorithm to calculate the composition of the frame.
