Last Statement
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice publishes a publicly viewable record of all executions they perform. Last Statement is an interactive installation that exposes this dataset in form of a karaoke peepshow. The viewer pushes a pulsating button, after which music starts playing and the last words of an executed person are displayed on screen. It is up to the viewer to then sing along, or remain silent.
The installation is contained in an elongated tarred box suspended from the ceiling.
